The Columbus Foundation - Dorothy E. Ann (D.E.A.F.) Fund

Grants of up to $500 to Ohio Pre-K-12 teachers to provide for the needs of their students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Funds are intended to help teachers with projects that strengthen the potential of deaf and hard of hearing youth through innovative techniques in the classroom.

This fund promotes hands-on experiences where youth who are deaf or hard of hearing can develop skills and values necessary for successful careers, including leadership training, goal setting, self-esteem building, and interpersonal and communication skills, thereby enhancing participation in their education, family, and community.

D.E.A.F. is not inclined to fund projects that are considered the responsibility of the public sector or are mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Acts.

Up to $500

The applicant must be a teacher who is certified in the State of Ohio, must coordinate the project, and must have at least one student who is deaf or hard-of-hearing.

Quarterly deadlines are March 15, May 15, October 15, and December 15. Grant decisions are generally made within six to eight weeks of the deadline.
