Grants ranging from $50,000 to $125,000 to develop specific to the industry training for employees in much needed industries. March 2nd is the prequalification registration for this grant. This grant helps businesses grow with trained and skilled empoyees and reduces unemployment. The purpose of this funding is to benefit both businesses and employees by improving the skills of workers, thereby increasing their productivity and their employers’ competitiveness. This initiative is expected to result in the creation of new jobs, the retention of jobs and/or an increase in wages for the trained workers.

Training may be provided by qualified in-house instructors in an on-the-job or classroom-based setting for industry-specific skills OR in a classroom setting in partnership with a NJ based two-year or four-year college, university, vocational-technical school, and/or other qualified training provider.

Applicant programs should emphasize training front-line workers. Most of the individuals receiving customized training will be trained to work in the direct production of goods and services.

Eligible applicants:
-An individual employer;
-An employer organization, labor organization or community-based organization; and
-A consortium, which may include the following: an employer organization, a labor organization, an educational or training institution seeking to provide customized training to upgrade the job-related skills of New Jersey employers’ workers.

-Employers from all industries are invited to apply for funding under this Notice of Grant Opportunity (NGO).

Applicants must propose occupational skills training for persons employed at a New Jersey facility.

Pre-proposal Conference:

The Office of Grants Operations will offer additional assistance at weekly \"Prospective Grantee Mini-Workshops\": on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10AM to 3PM beginning July 6, 2010. Interested individuals must call our helpdesk to schedule an appointment at 609-633-6799.
