Grants averaging $25,000 for grassroots organizations that use creativity and innovation to address child hunger and nutrition needs in communities. Letter of intent due by January 14, 2011. Funding will be provided for direct services, capacity building, and advocacy. Direct service grants will support programs that provide innovative feeding, hunger relief and nutrition education and services. Capacity building grants will strengthen the capabilities, operations, and expertise of organizations to reach as many hungry and food insecure children in the quickest, most effective way. Advocacy grant funds will be used to moblize resources to increase public awareness of the interrelated issues and the root causes and effects of child hunger and poor nutrition.

All grant recipients must be nonprofit, charitable organizations tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Religious organizations such as churches, mosques and synagogues may qualify only if their outreach programs are offered to the general population regardless of religious affiliation AND they have established a separate 501(c)(3) organization to operate the funded program(s).
Applicants are required to submit a Letter of Interest (LOI) between January 3 - 14, 2011. Successful applicants will be notified with an invitation to submit a complete proposal and will receive further instructions on how to apply. Full proposals will be accepted between February 21 - March 11, 2011.
