Grants ranging up to $25,000 to support community efforts to promote neighborhood safety. The purpose of this funding is to promote collaborations between community organizations and police to address persistent neighborhood crime and disorder problems and improve economic development. Applicants are invited to apply for two award categories: Neighborhood Revitalization Awards and Special Strategy Awards.
Neighborhood Revitalization Awards - to recognize collaboration between community groups and police that have effectively reduced crime and resulted in economic development outcomes, such as real estate development, business attraction and job growth.
Special Strategy Awards - to recognize collaboration between community groups and police that resulted in significant public safety outcomes in one or more of the following areas: applied technology; aesthetics and greenspace improvement; diversity inclusion and integration; drug market disruption; gang prevention and youth safety; seniors and safety.

Community organizations, community development corporations, police/sheriff’s departments, community partnerships, Weed & Seed programs, and collaboratives comprising more than one of these elements.
Public agencies (including police departments and public schools) must apply in conjunction with at least one non‐profit, 501(c)(3) organization that was a leading partner in the collaboration and will serve as a fiscal agent for award funds.
Interested applicants must complete and submit a brief preliminary application. Applicants are eligible to apply for both the Neighborhood Revitalization Award as well as the Special Strategy Awards. Please be aware that the materials must be sent in as separate applications.
Winners of the Neighborhood Revitalization Awards must agree to hold a local event in summer or fall 2011 to announce their award.
