Grants totaling $2.9 million to provide technical training and assistance to educational agencies to improve education and development of young children with disabilities. The purpose of this funding is to increase awareness, knowledge, and skills of early childhood education professionals and families. The goal is to assist them in supporting the education and development of children with special needs.
Recipients will be required to establish a regional center for the provision of training and technical assistance to the early childhood community. Centers will also be responsible for establishing focus groups comprised of early childhood professionals and providers of early intervention services.

Public school districts, Regional Offices of Education, Intermediate Service Centers, special education joint agreements and cooperatives, not for profit entities, public universities, public university laboratory schools approved by the State Board of Education, charter schools, and area vocational centers with the necessary expertise pursuant to this RFP and demonstrated experience in providing technical assistance and training in Illinois are eligible to apply.
