Grants to provide community services to enhance mental health for New Jersey children. The overall goal of the fund is to improve the quality and scope of child protective and preventative services. The available funding has been allocated for mental health services for preschool age children. The fund seeks to increase protective factors and decrease risk factors that are believed to strongly influence child development.

Primary areas of focus are nurture and attachment, parenting education, and social connections. Organizations must implement programs that address the specific needs of a given community or population, include parent involvement in program design, and provide supportive services, such as transportation to programs. Programs must be research based and must be culturally sensitive.

One grant will be awarded in each region of the state—north (Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Warren Counties); central (Burlington, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Somerset and Union Counties); and south (Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties)
