Grants totaling $300,000 to initiate or enhance local urban and community forestry programs and improve the urban environment within the State of Florida. The overall goal of the grant is to assist communities in strengthening their urban forestry programs. Four grants are offered through the RFP: local government program development or improvement, demonstration or site specific projects, non-profit administration, and information and education.

Areas of focus include, active involvement by community tree boards or citizen tree advisory groups, development of urban tree management plans, program oversight by qualified professional staff or professional consultant and development of tree care standards. To accomplish these goals organizations must educate citizens and professionals and develop effective methods to manage and implement sustainable forestry programs.

Funds are to be used for forestry programs and not for beautification purposes. Programs that integrate community involvement will be looked upon favorably.
