Request a Grant Writer

Grants for $1,000 to recognize and support nonprofits that use technology in new, creative, and innovative ways to: (a) enhance an organization's important operations; (b) to help an organization more efficiently and effectively carry out its goals; and (c) to help people build skills to succeed in today's economy.

Priority for funding will be given to organizations based on the degree of their innovative and creative use of technology, the impact of the technology on the organization’s programs or operations, as well as the the impact of the technological innovation on its ability to help the organization better serve clients, customers, donors, members, or the community at large.

Organizations must demonstrate fiscal responsibility and must be inclusive and embrace diversity (i.e., organizations may not discriminate against employment based on anything, including ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religion).

Churches or organizations whose primary mission is to promote a religion; private schools, colleges or universities are not eligible even if they are 501(c)(3) organizations. Nonprofit hospitals or cooperative hospital service organizations, and governmental units are also not eligible to apply.

Applicants must be based or have a chapter in the Washington Metropolitan area which is defined as the District of Columbia, suburban Maryland or suburban Virginia. Also, the technology innovation described in the application must have been implemented within the past 12-18 months.
