United States Department of Agriculture
Grants for up to $225,000 to enhance economic development in rural America. The purpose of this funding is to create or enhance existing jobs and businesses in order to generate a vibrant economic community. Funding will be awarded to the development of help centers to assist the startup, expansion, and overall improvement of rural businesses.
Funding may be used for research to gather information on cooperative development, to provide training on proper business strategies, or to provide loans, and technical assistant to enhance economic development. Funding in the past has been awarded to organizations like, the California Center for Cooperative Development, The Ohio State University, the Center of Southwest Culture and the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union Educational & Charitable Foundation.

Eligibility is limited non-profit corporations or an institution of higher education. Public bodies and individuals are not eligible to receive grants. Eligible Entities must serve beneficiaries located in eligible rural areas, as defined at section 6018(13)(A) of the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008.
The matching fund requirement is 25 percent of the total project cost.
