Request a Grant Writer

Grants ranging from $150,000 to $250,000 for non-profit organizations that provide support for the unemployed residents of Washington DC. The purpose of this grant is to assist low income and unemployed individuals begin careers in retail, restaurant, hospitality, and related customer service occupations. Awardees must provide the following services for at least 250 people:

-A needs assessment that examines individual’s readiness and abilities for employment.
-Case management services, including providing referrals to partner organizations that can help individuals address barriers to work
-Basic career coaching that helps individuals evaluate their career interests, and develop necessary plans
-Intensive training on the skills needed to succeed in customer-service careers in industries like retail, restaurants, and hospitality.
-Job placement assistance, including help with job search, resume writing, and interviewing.
-At least 90 days of job retention services

Priority will be given to organizations that provide adult literacy education, basic math education; and/or computer literacy education.
