A grant of $67,500 will be awarded to an eligible non-profit for the purpose of providing nutritional support to day-care providers in Spanish-speaking populations in Washington, D.C. This program expects to eliminate barriers faced by the local Hispanic community in accessing nutritional programming. The awardee will be responsible for engaging the Spanish-speaking population in this program, which provides a monthly financial subsidy, training and technical assistance, nutrition education and food safety information to licensed family day care home providers that serve their children nutritious meals and snacks. It is expected that at least 20 family day care providers will be enrolled and maintain active participation in the program by the end of the grant period. The awardee, as contractor, assumes entire fiscal, legal and managerial responsibilities for the administration of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), a federal child nutrition program.
Funds cannot be used for the following purposes:
• Purchasing reimbursable meal components
• Commissioning program studies and/or evaluations of the CACFP
• Purchasing equipment (defined as non-expendable, tangible personal property with a useful life of more than one year and a per unit acquisition as defined by the State).
