The Charlotte Martin Foundation
Grants of up to $20,000 for non-profits that provide programs that enrich the lives of youth in the areas of athletics, culture, and education, or programs that preserve and protect wildlife and habitat. The goals of the youth grants are to encourage them to explore their passions and develop their skills through education, culture, and athletics. The goals of the wildlife grants are to preserve the resilience of the world's vital ecosystems in order to promote biodiversity and the protection of wildlife.
Funding for athletics programs will be provided to support a wide variety of sports programs and equipment for both boys and girls where youth populations are underserved, with a special interest in supporting girls’ sports. Funding may also be used for investment in facilities that are used primarily by youth, after-school and off-hours sports programs making better use of existing facilities, and/or programs that introduce younger children to the value of sports.
Funding for education programs may be used for programs that are in or out of the classroom, after school, weekends and summer. Funding may also be used for programs that promote skills for critical thinking, problem-solving and applied learning, including but not limited to inquiry-based science, technology, engineering and environmental education.
Funding for culture grants will be used to promote active participation of young people in music, art, dance, literature, especially projects where youth are engaged in the production of an art form or event. Funding will also support projects that celebrate the heritage and cultural diversity of a community.
Funding for wildlife projects may be used for projects that are part of an established or larger design addressing ecosystem health and resilience, projects that protect and preserve freshwater, marine and estuarine resources, and/or projects that support wildlife migration corridors and critical habitat.
