Request a Grant Writer

Grants to Colorado nonprofit organizations and groups to address the concerns and needs of Boulder County youth. Funding is intended to address the following dominant community issues: gender based assault and mental health. Priority will be given to organizations that align with these two focus areas while simultaneously promoting community well-being and exposure in schools.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following needs in the Boulder Area community:

Sexual Assault:
Sexual Assault is an issue that the board sees as largely underfunded and extremely important. After completing significant research, the Foundation was struck by the alarmingly high rates of sexual assault not only across the population, but specifically within youth and young adults. The Foundation believes that by funding nonprofits working to putting a stop to sexual assault, it is making a direct difference, as they are already working with schools, youth, and parents.

Mental Health:
Speaking with representatives of the issue, the board was pulled to this issue, both due to its vast prevalence in youth and its higher instance in Colorado. It was alarming to see that regarding high schoolers in Colorado, the suicide rate is nearly double that of the rest of the United States. The dangers of mental health are obvious, and it is hoped that the issue will be addressed as well as reducing stigmatization.

The Community Foundation values inclusive and transformational leadership, and it has institutionalized diversity and inclusivity in its grantmaking. As such, inclusiveness at all levels of the organization is a crucial part of the application review.
