Grants of up to $500 to Skokie, Illinois public and private schools who host visiting artists for arts programming. New or previously rejected applicants are required to attend a grant workshop prior to applying. Funding is intended to supplement fine arts curricula in local schools.

Programs should have an emphasis on fine arts, music and dance while promoting cultural diversity.

The highest preference for funding will be given to schools that participate in the Skokie Fine Arts Commission's SOAR Student Art Exhibit.

Review standards:
- Emphasis on fine arts, music and dance.
- Cultural diversity programming.
- Impact on Skokie students (i.e. percentage of Skokie students that will attend the event).

Term of Contract:

For this program year all projects or programs must take place between May 1, 2018 and April 30, 2019.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Skokie public and private schools who host professional visiting artists are eligible to apply.

Skokie Fine Arts Commission will not fund:
- Unsigned, incomplete or late applications.
- Travel expenses.
- Applicants who do not return evaluation forms.

Pre-proposal Conference:

New applicants and applicants that were denied grant funding in the past are required to attend one of the following:

- Grants workshop on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 7:30 PM, Skokie Village Hall, 5127 Oakton Street.

- One of the subsequent Skokie Fine Arts Commission meetings. Meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of each month at Skokie Village Hall in Conference Room A at 7:30 PM.

Pre-Application Information:

Deadline for applications: Friday, September 28, 2018.

Award recipients will be notified by early November 2018.

Grant money will not be released unless an evaluation form is completed and received by the Skokie Fine Arts Commission.
