Community Research Center for Senior Health (CRC-Senior Health)
Grants of up to $10,000 and consultation services will be awarded to organizations and businesses in Texas for programs that enhance the health of seniors. Community-based organizations in Bell and Brazos Counties can apply for funding for new programs that encourage seniors, 60 and above, to take better care of their health, encouraging healthy behaviors and self-management of their health conditions. Proposed projects and activities must use evidence-based programs or interventions, including those advocated by such organizations as Aging Texas Well, National Institutes of Health, Substance Abuse, Mental Health Services Administration, and the National Council on Aging. Profit-oriented organizations must demonstrate their ability to sustain the program after CRC-Senior Health funding is expired.
Community groups are well positioned to understand seniors’ needs and preferences and can serve as the delivery channel for innovative community health programs. Such programs complement the medical care provided by healthcare providers, making community-based groups an important player in the overall health and well-being of seniors.
