Non-profit art-based organizations located in identified counties in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana are eligible to apply for funding for arts and culture programs and projects. The goal of the funding is to support activities that will create connected communities, and increase interest in the arts among the general public.
ArtsWave has developed this grantmaking process based upon the following guidelines:
The arts* create vibrant neighborhoods and contribute to a thriving economy
The arts create a more connected community
The ability to articulate the impact of the arts sector on the region is important to building community support
Differentiated arts organizations and programs of various sizes and disciplines are necessary to address the diverse interests of the community
Anchor arts institutions are necessary to catalyze arts activity across the region
An important measure of ArtsWave’s success is its ability to attract increased resources to, and participation in, the arts sector
An effective grantmaking process needs to drive measurable community impact, maintain public trust, be easily understood, and provide a level of predictable funding to sustain measurable change over an extended period of time
Collaboration between arts organizations leads to a higher level of artistic experience and helps the sector use its resources more efficiently
A relevant grantmaking process needs to allow for continuous learning, evaluation and adjustment
Reasonable transition periods are required as funding processes change
* Arts references both arts and culture organizations.
