Foundation / Corporation
The Kansas Health Foundation
Non-profit organizations located throughout Kansas are eligible to apply for funding for the creation of a community garden. The Foundation seeks to support the development of gardens that benefit the community, incorporate environmentally friendly practices, and collaborate with other partners from the community. The goal of the program is to increase public and private value of local communities through the development of new community gardens in Kansas.
Existing gardens that are still in the early stages of their development may qualify for grant funds if they can demonstrate a clear rationalization and explanation of how funds would help to aid in the development of the garden and add to its long-term stability within the community. The clear and primary focus of these gardens is to increase and expand access to healthy, fresh food. However, gardens may incorporate a secondary focus such as recreation, wildlife protection, etc.
Priority is given to new community gardens. Those within the early stages of development (3 years) will be awarded a maximum of $2500.
