The Chicago Community Trust
Grants of up to $100,000 will be awarded in Illinois to arts organizations and/or performing arts groups to encourage arts participation in communities where participation is currently low. All sizes of organizations and groups are invited to apply, individually or collectively, for the funding of a single series of productions, shows or exhibits. Funds are intended to support diversity in all of its forms, irrespective of age, disability status, economic circumstance, ethnicity, gender, race, religion and sexual orientation.
All projects should aim to achieve most of the following outcomes:
-Showcase the talents of diverse and culturally specific artists
-Perform/exhibit/conduct programs in arts venues located in areas of Cook County that are culturally underserved
-Perform/exhibit/conduct programs in public venues (such as libraries, parks or community colleges) located in areas of Cook County that are culturally underserved
-Plan and implement projects with meaningful involvement by leaders/collaborators from the target community or audience
-Ensure affordability and accessibility for the target community or audience
-Include an effective means of tracking market penetration and participant response
-Include well-defined strategies for building on or sustaining the collaboration, cross-promotion or presence within the target market or community
-Increase the Trust’s visibility within the target community
The grant program is not designed to support the same organization for multiple consecutive years.

$100,000, Requests for funding of $25,000 and under are submitted for internal review and approved on a rolling basis during each cycle.
-Nonprofit organizations with evidence of tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or those using a 501(c)(3) fiscal agent
-Organizations located within and/or primarily serving residents of Cook County, except for regional, statewide or national projects or research that may benefit a substantial portion of Cook County residents
-Organizations with a commitment to diversity and inclusion for their governance, staffing and populations served; and explicit adherence to non-discriminatory practices in the hiring of staff or in providing services on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, national origin or disability
-Organizations with a successful track record of reaching underrepresented audiences and/or sustaining equitable and authentic collaborations with other entities that can do so
-Organizations that are deeply rooted in, and reflective of, an underrepresented artist(s), geographic area or target audience or that have developed effective collaborations with other entities that meet this criterion
-Organizations with the demonstrated capacity - including both artistic, marketing and managerial infrastructure - to plan and execute the proposed production(s)/exhibit(s) or which have developed effective collaborations with other entities to meet this criterion
-Organizations that have not received funding from The Chicago Community Trust's strategic grants in FY2012. This restriction does not apply to grants received from donor funds housed at the Trust, including the Arts Work Fund, Nuestro Futuro, Hope Abelson Award, Young Leaders Fund, fellowship programs, etc.
