Grants totaling $28,800 are available to support eligible non-profit organizations in Linn County, Iowa that are engaged in historical preservation. The purposes of these grants are to promote the preservation of historic structures or artifacts; encourage historical studies or research, as well as the maintenance of a historical library or collection; or otherwise promote the dissemination of knowledge of the history of the area to the general public.

Eligible applicants must be a non-profit organization located in Linn County. Due to legal restrictions, organizations under ecclesiastical or sectarian management are not eligible.
The Linn County Historic Preservation Commission will host an informational workshop about the grant program on Saturday, March 3, 2011, from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. There is no cost for the workshop; however, those attending should call (319) 892-5117 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a spot. The workshop will be held at the Coggon Fire Station, 101 N. Railroad Street in Coggon.
