Grants to neighborhood associations in Lincoln and Lancaster Counties, Nebraska that conduct neighborhood cleanups. The purpose of these grants is to reimburse neighborhood associations by paying for the fees involved in cleanups such as the roll-off rental companies, landfill fees, etc. Associations must plan, organize and implement the cleanup. Award amounts will be based on:

• Efforts to reduce the amount of waste and to recycle collected materials
• Removing illegal signs from utility poles and street rights-of-way
• Cleaning up litter along the streets, curbs, alleyways and public spaces in the neighborhood
• Use of cost effective methods (i.e., roll-off dumpsters, etc.)
• Solicitations of donations and/or in-kind contributions and innovative techniques used to accomplish the cleanup
• Previous experience and successful volunteer participation

Authorized Expenses Include:
• Roll-off dumpsters
• Landfill gate fees
• Some recycling fees (limited; check first)
• Rental of other equipment (trailers, etc.)

The following should not be collected at a neighborhood cleanup:
• Household garbage
• Household hazardous waste
• Yard waste, such as grass clippings and leaves
• Liquids of any kind
• Brush or clippings (unless in a separate roll-off)

NA Cleanups should accept the following items only if they have specific plans for recycling them locally:
• Appliances, e.g., stoves, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, air conditioners, de-humidifiers, hot water heaters
• Computers and televisions
• Propane tanks and cylinders
• Tires

Grants may be completed on online, or sent via email or regular mail. Contact the KLLCB Coordinator if you have not heard back by August 1 (402-441-8035).
