Grants to Wisconsin and Illinois nonprofit organizations in eligible areas for services and programs that improve the quality of life in local communities. A Letter of Inquiry must be submitted prior to the full proposal. Focus areas may include youth, family and aging, education, the environment, health and human services, arts and culture, and community development. Funds must be used for programs and services benefitting the Stateline Area. This includes the communities of Beloit, Brodhead, Clinton, and Orfordville: Wisconsin; Clinton, Rockton, Roscoe, and South Beloit: Illinois.

Favored Projects:

The Community Foundation tends to favor projects that:

  • propose innovative, creative, and practical solutions to both current and emerging community needs
  • promote cooperation among agencies without duplicating services
  • stimulate others to participate in problem solving
  • strengthen an agency’s effectiveness or stability
  • address themselves to prevention as well as remediation

Estimated Size of Grant:

Community Impact grants are for those organizations seeking more than $1,000. Awards vary, depending on availability of funds.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Nonprofit organizations recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and providing services to the Stateline area are eligible to apply.

In general, the SCF does not support:
- ongoing operating expenses
- building funds or capital campaigns
- political parties
- endowments and debt reduction
- scholarly research
- annual fundraising drives
- travel grants
- projects outside its area of service.

Pre-Application Information:

The Community Impact Grant Application opens May 15, 2020 and closes at 5 p.m. on June 15, 2020.

The application involves a two-step process:

Step 1 — Submit a Letter of Inquiry:

- Submit your letter of inquiry by June 10th.
- Submit Your Letter of Inquiry Online.
- Selected organizations will be notified of their status within 10 days following submission of their letter of inquiry.

Step 2 — If your LOI is approved, you will be invited to submit a full grant application:

- Proposals must be received by the Stateline Community Foundation by 5 pm on June 15, 2020.
- All grant applications must be submitted online.
- Funds will not be available until after August 12, 2020.
- You will be notified in writing of the Foundation’s Board of Directors decision six to eight weeks following the deadline date.
