Grants to non-profit organizations located in Warren or Clinton counties in Ohio for the prevention of substance abuse and the promotion of mental health. Funding is provided for innovative, specific projects that may not duplicate services which are currently being provided by a contract agency. Listed below are types of proposals that would receive priority funding from the Mental Health Recovery Services of Warren and Clinton Counties (MHRS):

 Primary/Universal Prevention or Education Efforts
 Evidence Based Programs/Practices (an example is the implementation of the “PAX Good Behavior Game” at an elementary school)
 Programs or activities targeting Search Institute 40 Developmental Asset Building (proposal must specify which asset(s) are being addressed)
 Programs or activities targeting recommendations made on the Clinton County and/or Warren County “Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Capacity Development Project Organizational Needs Assessment Report” prepared by Dr. Julia King and Dr. Jenny O’Donnell on behalf of the Family and Children First Councils in the respective counties

 Specific Projects (as opposed to general operating expenses)
 Development of creative services/programs that would have an impact on mental health/substance abuse prevention (pilot projects)

MHRS will offer an optional Proposal Workshop on Monday, August 27, 2012, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. to review the application requirements, selection criteria, and to answer questions.
