UnitedHealthcare in partnership with YSA (Youth Service America)
Grants of up to $1,000 are available nationwide to schools and other community-based non-profit organizations for youth-led service-learning projects that aim to combat childhood obesity through walking, running, or hiking programs. Proposals must include an activity element where young people can count their steps, as well as a service component that provides direct service, enables advocacy on behalf of a cause, or features youth philanthropy.
Applicant projects should involve and engage at least 20 youth; include a plan to have youth share information about the project with media and public officials; and expose youth to college, career, and workforce readiness skills as they plan and implement their projects.
