Grant Description

Grants of up to $25,000 to Kansas nonprofit organizations, government agencies, schools, faith-based entities, and health centers in eligible areas to benefit women in local communities. Funding is intended for programs and projects within the focus areas of physical and mental health, access to healthy food, affordable housing, arts, STEAM subjects, and financial literacy. Eligible proposals offer groundbreaking solutions to complex problems facing women and children in Topeka and Shawnee County. Grants will support exceptional ideas that provide new opportunities and creative solutions through collaborations and partnerships.

In addition to program expenses, requests may include overhead costs such as:

  • Staff
  • Marketing
  • Technology
  • Consultants
  • Strategic Planning.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible organizations are nonprofit organizations classified as:
- Tax-exempt under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code
- Government entities with a Federal Employer Identification Number
- Churches
- Schools
- Service organizations
- Hospitals and medical clinics

Additionally, eligible applicants are qualifying Kansas organizations whose missions align with the focus areas of The Women's Fund. All proposals must have the potential to contribute to measurable positive impact for women, or women and children on the issues described above within Topeka and Shawnee County.

Grant funds may not be used for the following:
- Medical research
- Capital campaigns
- Operating deficits or retirement of debt
- Construction projects
- Real estate acquisitions
- Endowments
- Medical equipment
- Grants to individuals
- Annual fund drives
- Fundraising events
- Lobbying, as defined by the US Internal Revenue Code, section 4945(d)(1). Advocacy activities that do not represent lobbying may be supported through this grant.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline to apply is January 14, 2022.

Organizations are encouraged to discuss proposals with the Women’s Fund Grant Chair prior to submitting final requests.

Awards will be announced in February 2022.
