Grants ranging from $15,000 to $50,000 will be awarded in the Chicago metropolitan area for programs dedicated to increasing resources and opportunities for women and girls. Funds are intended for programs in the following three issue areas: Economic Security, Freedom from Violence, and Access to Health Services and Information. Competitive proposals will be for either advocacy and/or direct service work as strategies to achieve the issue area priorities. Activities can be local, regional, or in some instances statewide.

Not funded:
For-profit business ventures;
Endowment campaigns;
Capital expenses;
Capital campaigns;
Individual day care center operations
Special events or conferences (except as stated under the Strategic Response Fund)

12 months, or multiple years.


Additional Eligibility Criteria:

-The organization must be within the six-county metropolitan area: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties, and impacting women and girls in these areas.
-The organization must support a woman’s right to reproductive justice.
-The organization’s board and staff members clearly reflect the diversity of the communities served, or is making strides to have it be so.
-The organization is accessible to persons with disabilities, or is making strides to be so.
-The organization must provide a respectful environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) people.

-Federal, state, county, or city government agencies
-Religious organizations seeking support for projects of a religious purposes
-Public and private schools

Pre-Application Information:

-The letter of inquiry needs to be in by 5:00 PM on the deadline date.
-An agency may only apply to the Foundation’s primary grant cycles once every twelve months, regardless of whether funding was received.
-Please note the following automatic reasons for decline:
*Application is incomplete.
*Incorrect application form is submitted on deadline day.
*Application is received after 5 p.m. on deadline day.
*Request is for 100% of project budget for primary grant cycle funds.
*Organization currently has CFW funding for the same program.
*Request is for funding for a new staff position.
*Organization or program is located outside the U.S.
*Request amount is below minimum ($15,000 for primary grant cycles) or above maximum ($50,000 for primary grant cycles, $7,500 for Strategic Response Fund).
*Organization has an overdue report from a previous grant.
