Request a Grant Writer

Grants will be awarded in Iowa to non-profit organizations for programs or projects that benefit Linn County residents. Applicants should: Have potential for long-term impact; Serve a broad segment of the population or those at risk; Address an emerging need, or provide a solution to an existing community and/or organizational need; Clearly describe project goals; Demonstrate sound financial plans for future funding of the project/program; and be developed in collaboration with other organizations rather than duplicate services.

Requests for programmatic and capital projects will be accepted. Grants must be for expenses that have not yet been incurred.

Not funded:
Operating support, including salary/wages/benefits of staff.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

-Non-profit organizations that are located in Linn County, Iowa or that have a branch location in Linn County and whose work benefits Linn County residents.
-Fiscal sponsors are allowed only if both organizations meet all of the eligibility criteria.

NOT ELIGIBLE:
-Applicants who have not submitted the required final report for previous Witwer Trust grants.
-An organization cannot receive funding for the same project from both the Witwer Trust and the Linn County Historic Preservation Grant Program.

-If you are a first-time applicant, you are encouraged to contact us to discuss your project and your application. Please call 319-892-5118.

-Only one application is allowed per organization. If an organization submits more than one grant application, all applications submitted by that organization will be deemed ineligible for grant funds and will not be reviewed.

-Only one proposal is allowed per organization, and only one project is allowed per proposal. If an organization submits a proposal requesting funding for more than one project, the proposal will be deemed ineligible and will not be reviewed.

-Funding decisions are made in February.
