Grant Description
Grants of up to $20,000 to Indiana nonprofit arts and culture organizations in eligible areas to address operational and administrative needs and support programming. Funding is intended to significantly advance the mission of the Funding Source by promoting a creative life for the residents of Indianapolis and Marion County. Programs and projects must be available to the general public.

As stated by the City of Indianapolis, funding through all Levels of Operating Support is intended for “non-profit Marion County arts and cultural community organizations that:

(a) Support arts programming and arts education opportunities;

(b) Promote Indianapolis as a cultural destination;

(c) Build the capacity and stability of Indianapolis’ arts and cultural organizations;

(d) Enhance the economic development of Indianapolis through the arts; and

(e) Share arts programs and activities with underserved audiences.”

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Eligible organizations:
- Are a 501 (c)(3) organization or an organization fiscally sponsored by a 501 (c)(3) organization headquartered in Marion County, Indiana.
- Have a minimum operating budget of $20,000.
- Offer year-round arts & culture programs to the community.
- Primarily serve Marion County residents.

Ineligible
Funding through all Levels of Operating Support should NOT be used for the following:
1. Programs or projects not available to the general public.
2. Cash reserves, deficit reduction or deficit elimination, penalties, or litigation costs.
3. Private functions, benefits, organizational fundraising, lobbying activities, or any non-public activities that are solely for the purpose of fundraising.
4. Re-granting activities.
5. Trusts or endowment funds.
6. Travel/activities taking place outside Marion County


Pre-Application Information
Date Milestone
- Monday, Jan. 29, 2024: Optional Draft Review Deadline* (12 PM)
- Friday, Feb. 16, 2024: Full Proposal Deadline (4:30 PM) – application submitted via Good Grants
- April 9-12, 2024: Grant Review Panel
- By May 2024: Announcement of Grant Awards and delivery of agreements
- By June 2024: First Payment (pending submission of required materials and IAC’s receipt of funds from the City of Indianapolis–will be communicated)
- March 31, 2025: Final Report Due

All new applicants will be reviewed in Level 1.

Grant awards vary. Currently, awards vary by application level. This is a 4-tier program; Levels are determined by budget size. All new applicants will be reviewed in Level 1.
