Matching grants of up to $150,000 are available to help Rotary clubs and districts carry out international humanitarian projects in cooperation with Rotarians in another country. Funding will be provided for projects including programs that promote peace and understanding, medicine and cures for sickness, water sanitation, children's health, reading and literacy, and fighting poverty. The Foundation provides a US $0.50 match for US $1 cash contributions.

Grant partners are expected to maintain communication for the life of the project and establish a committee of at least three Rotarians to oversee the project. Participating organizations must treat grant funds as a sacred trust and maintain clear and accurate accounting. Rotary clubs will receive support from the Foundation to help identify, resolve, or prevent problems from occurring.

Funding will be provided for projects including:
* Revolving loans/microcredit
* Short-term rent or lease of buildings
* Construction of infrastructure such as service roads, wells, reservoirs, dams, bridges, latrines, toilet blocks, water supplies, and other similar structures
* Purchase of equipment or appliances
* Short-term and/or contracted labor for project implementation
* Administrative expenses for project activities
* Primary and secondary education, tuition, transportation
* Domestic travel
