Grants of up to $2,500 for projects related to wildlife research, education, and diversity conservation. Funding is intended to support activities that protect endangered species, enhance their natural habitats, and conduct educational projects to raise awareness of conservation needs.

The purpose of this Grant Agreement is to enable the Department and/or its partners to conduct research on, or otherwise conserve, wildlife Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN), and to educate Iowa’s citizens regarding the needs of wildlife SGCN.

In addition to surveys and research on nongame wildlife, funding has been awarded for viewing platforms and equipment to be used by Nature Centers for wildlife educational programming.

Estimated Total Program Funding:

$10,000

Estimated Size of Grant:

$2,500 is the maximum amount available per project funding request.

Term of Contract:

Approved projects will be funded on a single-year basis but can be submitted for additional funding in subsequent years (not to exceed 3 years in succession).

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Small Grants are available for projects directly relating to wildlife diversity conservation, education, or research.

Pre-Application Information:

Proposals must be submitted before 5 pm November 1, 2019.

Notification of proposals accepted or declined will be made to all applicants by March 31, 2020.
