Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $2,000 to Massachusetts nonprofit organizations to address health equity in eligible communities. Funding is intended for limited or short-term projects, events, and activities that directly impact individuals who are most impacted by health disparities. Proposed activities must be located within the CHNA9 network (Ashburnham, Ashby, Ayer, Barre, Berlin, Bolton, Clinton, Fitchburg, Gardner, Groton, Hardwick, Harvard, Hubbardston, Lancaster, Leominster, Lunenburg, New Braintree, Oakham, Pepperell, Princeton, Rutland, Shirley, Sterling, Templeton, Townsend, Westminster, and Winchendon.)

Proposal Guidelines:

  • Proposed projects/activities/events must address health equity as defined on the CHNA9 website: All people, regardless of ethnic/racial or socio-economic status, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or disability have an equal opportunity to develop and maintain health through fair and just access to resources such as education, housing, and economic stability.   • The proposal must demonstrate direct impact on the people most directly affected by health disparities.
  • The proposal must address a Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) strategy as outlined in one of the CHIP Priority Areas (See https://chna9.com/north-central-chip/
  • Examples of projects or activities: training/workshops, one-time events, capacity-building activities, etc.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility: All groups, programs, committees, coalitions, schools, faith-based communities, and non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have 501(c)(3) status or a fiscal sponsor. Individuals are not eligible to apply.

In general, mini-grants are not awarded to sustain or supplement basic operations and core functions of an organization. Extenuating circumstances, such as a sudden and unanticipated increase in the demand for goods or services, will be considered.
