Request a Grant Writer

Grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 to Mathews County, Virginia nonprofit organizations, agencies, and schools for programs and projects that focus on the areas of arts and culture, economic stability, education, and health and wellness. The funding source funds projects that are most likely to produce positive and lasting change in the area served by MCF.

In some cases, MCF may take a more proactive approach to addressing important community issues. The foundation will seek to identify community initiatives that advance solutions to our community’s greatest challenges using innovative strategies and a collaborative spirit. The foundation encourages grant requests that are innovative, collaborative, measurable, and sustainable.

The Foundation works closely with grantees to advance these goals:

- Cultural Vibrancy: The goal is for community members to access and appreciate arts and cultural opportunities.
- Economic Prosperity: The goal is for the county's resources to be sustainable and for residents to be economically stable and secure.
- Educational Success: The goal is for young people to achieve in school, engage in their community and be prepared for the workforce.
- Health and Wellness: The goal is for community members to be safe and healthy.

Grants typically range from $1,000 to $10,000. Occasionally, a limited number of projects receive grants in excess of the current guidelines.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Proposals are available to eligible 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations and agencies providing programs that directly impact Mathews County and improve the quality of life for its residents.

Grant applications are due by 4:30pm, the first Monday in March. Grant announcements are made in May.

To be considered, organizations must have a complete an updated portrait on GiveMathews.org (http://www.givemathews.org/). Exceptions include churches, public schools and government agencies. For details, contact Give Coordinator Phil Giaramita (see Contact Information below).

All proposals must be submitted through the online grants system.
