Foundation / Corporation
Virden Area Foundation
Grants to Canada registered charities offering a broad range of charitable, recreational, educational, and cultural activities that are intended to benefit the citizens of Virden and area. The Foundation is primarily seeking to support proposals that: provide care for needy men, women, and children, and in particular for the sick, aged, destitute, and helpless; promote educational advancement; and promote conservation of human, natural, and heritage resources. Proposals focusing on other areas may be given consideration by the Board as well.
Preference is given to projects that:
* encourage more efficient use of community resources;
* expect to test or demonstrate new approaches and techniques in the solution of community problems;
* address the underlying causes of problems in society rather than dealing only with symptoms;
* are developed in consultation with other agencies and planning groups and those which promote coordination, co-operation, and sharing among organizations and the elimination of duplicated services; and
* promote volunteer participation and citizen involvement in the community.
