Grants of $3,000 Pennsylvania nonprofit organizations, individual artists, and municipalities for arts projects in eligible locations. Projects must enhance arts and culture in the community, engage with traditionally underserved demographics, and benefit the general public. Funding is provided for virtual projects, public arts and beautification projects, in-person projects that operate in accordance with health guidelines, and projects that promote health and safety resources in a creative way (signage, barriers, stickers, etc.). Projects must take place in Lackawanna County.

The funding allows for artist fees, project manager or staff fees, supplies, marketing, purchase of technology for programming, rental fees.

Depending on CDC and Pennsylvania Covid-19 situation, applications must show a strong safety plan if not a virtual event.

Projects will be reviewed by a panel and selected using the following criteria:

  • Artistic/Cultural Strength of Project
    • Artistic/cultural/historical quality of product or program shows high value.
    • Artist/Cultural Producers demonstrate expertise and experience.
    • The project enhances the cultural life for residents of Lackawanna County.
    • The project shows creativity and innovation in addressing the challenges of Covid-19.
  • Community Benefit
    • The project has significant benefit for the general public and/or specific targeted group(s)
    • The project engages traditionally underrepresented or underserved demographics/groups.
    • Project supports/involves local artist(s) or other cultural producers.
    • There is evidence of a strong marketing plan and/or community outreach.
    • The project shows inclusiveness toward persons with disabilities
  • Administration
    • The scope of the project is reasonable and well-planned.
    • The application shows a clear budget with evidence of fiscal responsibility.
    • Goals of the project are well-defined and measurable.
    • If applicable, the project demonstrates a safety plan concerning Covid-19.

As the goal of the Lackawanna County Arts & Culture Department is to ensure access to the arts for all county residents and provide opportunities for local artists and cultural producers the geographical locations of projects and residency of applicants within the county will be considered in the review process.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

- Individuals, non-profit organizations, and municipalities are invited to apply.
- Churches may apply for public and non-religious activities only.
- Project must take place in Lackawanna County but applicants may reside outside the state.

- The following are not eligible for funding from this grant: awards, hospitality (food, alcohol) support of staff time not related to the project and religious activities with inherent religious purposes such as worship, instruction, etc.
- Fundraisers are not eligible for funding.
- Mural projects are not eligible for this funding stream.

Pre-Application Information:

Accepting applications from July 1, 2022 to October 22, 2022 02:00 PM (EDT).

One letter of support is required but applicants may submit up to 3.
