Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $1,500 will be awarded in Indianapolis, Indiana to individuals, informal groups, and for-profit and non-profit organizations to financially support projects that will improve the overall look of Near North communities. Applications must be project-specific, with a specific location and plan for that location identified.

Eligible projects include:
- Creation of new parks/green spaces
- Upgrades or improvements to existing parks/green spaces
- Gateways
- Reforestation, gardens, orchards
- Street tree planting
- Public art
- Playgrounds

Not funded:
- Maintenance of existing parks/green spaces
- Neighborhood clean-ups
- Signage or banners
- Improvements to individual private properties

Up to $1,500

Term of Contract:

All NNDC funds must be used in 2014.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Individuals, informal groups, and for-profit and non-profit organizations are all eligible to apply.

Individuals and informal groups that apply however, must have an identified and committed legal entity that will act as the project sponsor and fiscal agent.

Only one application will be accepted per individual, group, or organization.

Pre-proposal Conference:

There will be an informational meeting to review the application process and to answer any questions applicants may have. Attendance is not required but is strongly encouraged. The meeting will be held January 3rd at 10:00 and will be located at the NNDC office.

Pre-Application Information:

Award announcements will be made in mid-February, with the intention that this early commitment of funds can be leveraged to aid successful applicants in securing more substantial funding from other sources, as well.

Grant funds will be available for disbursement beginning on March 1, 2014.
