Grants of up to $500 to Portsmouth, Virginia PreK-12 public school teachers, staff and parents for the development and implementation of innovative programs that reach, educate and motivate students of Portsmouth Public Schools. Funds are intended to encourage creative and effective teaching and to support enriching educational projects.
The grant program allow teachers to move beyond the core curriculum by supporting enriching educational projects, encouraging creative and effective teaching and recognizing creative teachers. This alternative learning environment encourages networking of successful projects with other teachers and supports teachers in their continuing professional development.
Strongly eligible programs will have the potential for city-wide duplication.
The following will not be funded:
1) Salaries of any type
2) Refreshments
3) Equipment, materials, and services which are available through the school system (laminating, copying, postage, etc.)
4) Transportation
