Grants of up to $10,000 to local Canada non-profit organizations proposing innovative, high-quality projects, events, and/or programs that will benefit the residents of Yellowknife City. Priority for funding will be given to projects, events, and/or activities that focus on recreation, sport, culture, arts, heritage, and/or community needs.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

In order for an organization to be considered for funding, the following criteria must be met:

A. Each organization shall be a non-profit or not-for-profit organization registered under the Societies Act of the Northwest Territories and be in good standing with the Societies by the application deadline.

B. Each organization must be based in Yellowknife and serve the residents of Yellowknife.

C. Each project, event, or organization must clearly benefit the community by building pride and encouraging community interaction and spirit. The activity to be funded must also be municipal in nature.

D. The City of Yellowknife will contribute funding to organizations for new programs or funding to assist in the enhancement of an existing program(s).

Restrictions:

- Organizations applying for funds to offset the reduction of funding levels by the Government of the Northwest Territories will not be eligible for funding from the City.

- An organization may not receive a Special Grant in the same calendar year that it received Core Grant. Only one application per year per organization for any type of funding from the City of Yellowknife is permitted.

- Funding will not be provided for out-of-town travel or fundraising events.

Ineligible Requests:
- Annual General Meetings, educational seminars, professional development
- Charitable foundations
- Municipal services, such as fire, police, and libraries
- Schools, school boards, educational institutions, health districts, hospitals, nursing homes
- Cash prizes and/or gifts
- Travel expenses and honorariums
