Grants of up to $2,500 to Hilliard, Ohio public school teachers and staff to engage students in unique learning experiences and develop innovative educational programs that are not normally supported through district funding. Past recipients have used funds to advance STEM programs, promote visual and performing arts studies, support English Language Learners programs, create publishing centers in elementary schools and more.

Requests may be for the following:
-Classroom-based program/project that directly benefits students
-Artist/Author-in-Schools program
-High school performing arts project
-Middle school project to promote or expand the arts
-One-time purchase or event at Weaver Middle School
-Multi-year project – Project takes place in phases or over more than one year.
-Multi-building collaboration – One or more school building working collaboratively.
-Publishing Shop in a new school building
-Start-up costs for a student leadership program (For example: Renaissance or Ambassadors)

Estimated Size of Grant:

Up to $2,500

Term of Contract:

Funds must be expended between May 1, 2014 and May 31, 2015. Multi-year requests are considered.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Any full-time educator or staff person employed by Hilliard City Schools may submit an application for funding.

Not Funded:
-Transportation costs.
-Staff salaries, stipends, or substitute costs.
-Consumable supplies (non-permanent items or items discarded after use), including purchases like t-shirts, books that students take home to keep, and food.
-Purchase of equipment simply to expand an existing program without the addition of a new program dimension.
-The continuation or repeat of existing programs and/or programs previously funded by HEF.

Pre-Application Information:

The regular deadline is April 5 at 4:30 PM. As the deadline date falls on a weekend for the 2014 grant cycle, the application deadline has been moved to Friday, April 4, 2014.

Application Submission Process:
One (1) original and ten (10) copies of the application must be submitted to: HEF Grants Committee Chair, HEF Mailbox, Central Office.
