Students will have the opportunity to participate in team-building and environmental education programming offered on site. Funding may be used to cover program costs and associated transportation.

NOVA Parks, in cooperation with Adventure Links, introduces students to a quiet wilderness with impressive possibilities at the 228-acre Hemlock Overlook Regional Park. This program offers public school 5th and 6th grade classes and programs the opportunity to apply for a grant to put towards a program at the park.

Adventure Links, operator of Hemlock Overlook Regional Park, offers a variety of programs. A suggested program may include the Team Development Course, the Zip Line Program and Environmental Education.

Thee typical cost of a 4-6 hour program with Adventure Links at Hemlock Overlook is $45.00 per student.

At the 60-element team development course, students will be presented with challenges ranging from simple to complex. Experienced staff facilitate group debriefs, highlighting relevant life lessons, like bullying.

Students overcome physical and personal obstacles on our zip line, combining trust, high adventure and the natural beauty of Northern Virginia. Fifty feet high and three hundred feet long, the zip is combined with a high ropes course.

In compliance with Virginia Standards of Learning, a two hour environmental education component is provided. This program introduces students to the diverse ecosystems that coexist with the world they know, leaving them with perspective and knowledge of their natural surroundings. Students will discover habitats of mid-Atlantic ora and fauna through hands-on exploration.
