Grants of up to $5,000 to Newmarket, Ontario, Canada individual artists, ad hoc groups, collectives, and organizations seeking financial assistance to create, produce, and present arts programs and activities for the benefit of local residents. Proposals may have a heritage or cultural component, but the primary focus of the project or event must encompass one or more of the following arts and/or crafts categories:

1. Performing Arts: Folk Music, Non-Classical and New Music, Spoken Word Theater, Classical Music, Musical Theater and Opera, Dance and Mime, Circus and Magic

2. Visual Arts: Printmaking, Photography, Performance Art, Sculpture and Installation, Painting and Drawing, Conceptual and Interdisciplinary

3. Communications Media: TV Broadcasting, Webcasting and Blogging, Radio Broadcasting

4. Heritage: Material Heritage, Built Heritage, Natural Heritage, Folkloric Arts

5. Festivals and Events: Independent, Civic

6. Literary Arts: Poetry, Non-Fiction, Storytelling, Publishing and Media, Fiction

7. Electronic Arts: Video, Film, New Media, Digital and Animation, Audio

8. Civic Arts: Urban design, Landscape, Public Art, Architecture

9. Crafts: Wood, Stone, Metal, Textiles and Fabric, Mixed Media, Glass, Ceramics

10. Design Arts: Industrial Design, Graphics

11. Aboriginal Heritage: Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Heritage, Festivals and Events, Literary Arts, Electronic Arts, Crafts

Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be Newmarket residents or collectives.
- Projects must be Newmarket-based, benefit the Newmarket community, have a primary arts focus, and cannot take place before application deadline.

Restrictions:
- Grant cannot be used as a donation to another cause
- Travel or accommodations
- Uniforms
- Personal equipment
- Banquets/trophies/prizes
- Expenses relating to capital projects
- Fundraising activities
- For-profit business initiatives
- Commissioned projects
- Staff/Organizer salaries

Individuals/collectives/groups/organizations that have received funding from the Newmarket Celebrates the Arts Grant Program for the same project or event for two years in a row are not eligible to reapply for a third year for that particular project or event. However, the same individual/collective/group/organization may apply for a different project or event. This project or event must be sufficiently different or unique in innovation from that funded in the two previous years.

1. Submit soft copies electronically: Completed application forms together with any attachments can be submitted by email to artsgrants@newmarket.ca.

2. Mail or drop off hard copies: Drop off or mail a hard copy of your completed application form, together with any attachments and supporting material to the address below. For your convenience, there is also a mail drop box outside the front doors, which can be accessed any day of the week and at any time of day.
