Grants to Virginia nonprofit organizations and local and state government agencies for programs that improve the health and well-being of local residents in eligible regions. Applicants must submit an LOI before applying. Eligible programs are those that serve individuals living in Greater Williamsburg, including the City of Williamsburg, James City County, and York County.

Williamsburg Health Foundation's Strategic Plan Goals

Advance organizations, systems, and public policy crucial to community health and well-being. Funding areas:

  • Organizational Capacity Building
  • Community Capacity Building
  • Public Policy Advocacy

Target behavioral and social risk factors that influence the health of individuals through the lifespan. Funding areas:

  • Healthy Eating Active Living
  • Two Generation Family Services
  • Healthy Aging

Strengthen the healthcare safety-net for uninsured and underinsured individuals. Funding areas:

  • Advanced Primary Care
  • Behavioral Health Services
  • Medication Access

Priority will be given to organizations that improve health opportunities within the community, have a positive impact on the health of underserved populations, demonstrate collaboration, and create stronger systems to support health in the community.

Term of Contract:

WHF does not award multi-year grants.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The following types of organizations may apply for funding:
- Nonprofit corporations with 501(c)3 tax status as demonstrated by an IRS determination and filing of IRS form 990 or 990EZ.
- State or local government agencies.

Applicants may use a fiscal agent to meet agency eligibility.

The Foundation will not fund applications requesting funding for:
- More than one year
- Annual fundraising appeals
- Endowments
- Restoration of funds cut by state or local governments
- Lobbying

An agency may submit no more than two Letters of Intent per cycle, and no agency may receive more than two Responsive Grants in any calendar year.

- Invitation to Submit By-Invitation Proposals: Friday, August 6, 2021

Applications and supporting documents are due by noon (12:00 p.m.) on the dates indicated. There are no exceptions to deadlines. Please complete your application early to avoid any last-minute problems. Late applications will not be considered.
