Grants of up to $10,000 to Ontario nonprofit and community organizations in eligible locations for operational support and for projects that benefit the local community. Grant funds may be used for organizational needs related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Funding is intended to support local organizations that encourage recreation, sports, arts, culture, festivals, and neighborhood participation. The Community Cash Grant is available to organizations that play important roles in providing programs and services to the local community in the City of Waterloo.
Operating grants are:
Examples of operating grants are: rent, insurance, telephone and Internet service, equipment for core services / community programs, salaries for staff or services, volunteer recruitment, training and office supplies / equipment.
Project grants are:
Examples of projects grants are events or activities.
Due to COVID-19 the City of Waterloo is providing more flexibility in the use of grants and organizations are welcome to apply for funds supporting one or more of the following:

- The maximum amount of funding a group can receive for either an operating or a project grant is $5000 for this grant cycle.
- Requests in excess of $5000 for either an operating or a project grant will not be considered.
- It is possible to apply for both an operating and a project grant. The total maximum amount any one organization can request is $10,000.
