Grants of up to $500 to North Carolina K-12 public, charter, and private schools in eligible communities for arts programs and resources. Funding may also be used to hire arts consultants and artists. Funding is intended for projects that connect students with the arts or use the arts to teach a basic academic subject in High Point area schools. Projects that integrate the arts with curriculum are highly recommended. Requests for hiring culturally diverse artists will be given stronger consideration.

The purpose of the program is:

  • To emphasize arts projects and programs in all subject areas of the school.
  • To bring artists (performing, literary, and visual) directly into the classroom.
  • To reach a large number of students. Projects that impact only a few students will not be disqualified but often do not compete favorably with other projects.
  • To encourage cooperative projects among schools, teachers, and PTAs.

For information about previously funded projects, see the Guidelines in Supporting Documents, below.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Maximum amount that may be requested is $500.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

These grants are available to public, charter, and private schools serving the High Point area students in grades K-12. Applicants may be a teacher, a group of teachers, and/or the PTA.

Any teacher may request a Teacher Arts Project Grant—grants are not restricted to art or music teachers.

There is not a limit to the number of applications that a school may submit. PTAs must have a teacher representative for the project and all projects must have approval of the schools principal or headmaster.

Money may not be used for food, drink, or solely for standard classroom art supplies. Grants for permanent equipment and supplies will be considered but capital expenditures will be disfavored unless related to a specific project.

Matching dollars for projects are not required, but are encouraged since it shows a collaborative effort to provide arts education in the school.
