Grants of up to $15,000 to New York cultural nonprofit organizations and grants of up to $2,500 to local artists to enhance cultural services and programs in eligible regions. Funding is intended to improve the city parks, facilities, and neighborhoods where activities occur. Priority will be given to brand new initiatives not previously funded in a past grant cycle. The grants also help organizations to build their capacity and to contribute to the City’s community building and economic development efforts. Grants should benefit Yonkers.

The Yonkers Cultural Arts Initiative provides project grants in two categories:

  • Organizations may apply for a variety of open-to-the-public activities, including but not limited to:
    • A single event, such as an exhibition, performance, or arts festival
    • A series of related activities, such as a film or concert series
    • Public art (site-specific sculpture, mural, installation)
  • Individual Artist may apply for:
    • Creation of New Work – Grants that provide commissioning support to individual artists for the creation of new work created and presented in a community setting. This funding supports artist-created work rather than work created by the community under an artist’s direction.  An essential element of this funding is the inclusion of community involvement in the development and creative process.
    • Community Engagement Project – These grants support community-based arts and cultural projects developed by individual artists to offer an open-to-the public arts activity, workshop, or public project

Project/activity must have a confirmed project location at the time of application.
