Grants and in-kind support of up to $5,000 to California nonprofit organizations in eligible regions for special events that benefit the local community. Funding is intended to support events that promote the economic development and benefit the residents of the city of Elk Grove. Assistance may consist of direct funding, in-kind services, city facility use, or all of the above. The event can be a one-day event, a multi-day event occurring on consecutive days, or a related series of events over an extended period of time.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Subject to the availability of funds, the City Manager may approve direct funding and/or in-kind assistance requests up to $5,000. Larger direct funding and in-kind service requests and any request requiring road closure will be heard by the Council.

Term of Contract:

This application covers events in Elk Grove taking place between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Only registered nonprofit organizations in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service or a government agency that serves the Elk Grove community are eligible to apply. For profit entities and individuals are not eligible.

In addition:
- The applicant organization must be in good standing with the California Secretary of State and the California Attorney General’s Registry of Charitable Trusts, if required by law to be registered
- The event must take place within the Elk Grove City limits.
- Events must have citywide significance and be open to all Elk Grove residents.
- The event must not be organized around political or religious purposes.
- Events with a fundraising component will be eligible only if all net proceeds will be provided to a nonprofit that serves primarily Elk Grove residents.
- The applicant organization must be the primary organizer, manager, and financial administrator for the event.
- The applicant organization must comply with all other applicable state and local laws for conducting the event including, but not limited to, acquiring all necessary event permits.
- Events that discriminate on the grounds of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, gender, or disability will not be eligible. All events must comply with applicable requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.e.

Pre-proposal Conference:

The City will hold a public meeting and technical assistance workshop to assist and provide members of the public an opportunity to share their thoughts on Elk Grove's needs and priorities over the next five years. Applicants and members of the public are encouraged to attend one of two public workshops held on:

Organizations must submit applications electronically no later than 11:59pm on Friday, February 28, 2020.

- May/June 2020: City Council approves annual budget (final awards)
- July 1, 2020: Funding year begins
