Grant Description
Grants to California nonprofit organizations to improve the quality of life in eligible regions. Eligible programs may align with one of the following areas of focus: recreation, historical heritage, health, the environment, education, cultural enrichment, and civic and community investment. Priority for grants is based on a need for nonprofit groups to improve facilities, services, or programs that foster community development. Eligible programs serve residents within the Los Gatos Community.


Additional Eligibility Criteria
Any organization applying for a grant must:
- Identify a specific project, capital improvement, or capital expense. (Requests for general fund expenditures or operating expenses will not be granted.)
- Demonstrate the benefit of the project to the greater Los Gatos area.
- Demonstrate fiscal and administrative stability, good management practices, and the ability to produce a budget and financial statements.
- Be designated as a nonprofit, tax exempt organization as defined under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Foundation generally will not consider grants for:
- Individuals
- Organizations without 501(c)(3) public charity status
- Political or religious organizations
- On-going operating expenses
- Secondary funding (where funds are pooled to make contributions to others)
- Endowment campaigns
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, race, creed, or gender

Pre-Application Information
The deadline is May 1st in order to be considered for grant awards that are granted in September of that same year.

Because of the volume of requests received, there may be some delay in responding to applicants. All applicants will be notified of final decisions by either mail or telephone.
