Grants of up to $5,000 to Mount Vernon, New York nonprofit cultural organizations and grants ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 to local artists for cultural services and programs benefiting local residents. Funding is intended to support activities open to the public, the creation of new artistic works, and artist-led community projects.

Estimated Size of Grant:

- An eligible organization may request a maximum award of $5,000 per application. (Organizations may apply for up to two activities - $5,000 for each request.)
- An eligible artist may request a maximum award of $2,500 ($1,000 minimum)

Term of Contract:

Projects must take place between December 15, 2019 and June 30, 2020.

Applicant Eligibility:

1. To be eligible, organizations must:

- Demonstrate 501(c)(3) federal tax exempt status as a private, not for profit organization incorporated in New York State.
- Be headquartered in the City of Mount Vernon.
- Have a mission statement that clearly delineates the arts or local history/culture as primary, both in focus and in actual operations.
- The organization must operate in a way that does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, disability or sexual orientation.
- Have not applied, not been awarded or received less than the maximum $5,000 award in the first round of the 2019-2020 Mount Vernon Arts Initiative.

2. To be eligible, artists must:

- Live in Westchester County, or own/rent space in Westchester County at the time of the application and for the duration of the planned project.
- Have not applied, not been awarded or received less than the maximum $2,500 award in the first round of the 2019-2020 Mount Vernon Arts Initiative.

Note: Those who applied for Basic Program Support, Project Support, or Arts Alive grants, the request through this initiative must be for programs/activities that are different from those supported through those funding categories. Priority will be given to brand new initiatives not previously funded. In addition, organizations that receive direct support from Westchester County Government are not eligible.

Application Deadline: Monday, September 9, 2019 at 11:59 pm. The application is to be submitted online.

Awards will be announced in late December 2019.

Organizations may submit up to two requests (up to $5,000 each) for different projects. Artists may only request support for one project in this category.
