Grant Description
Grants of up to $2,500 and grants of up to $10,000 to New York nonprofit organizations and individual artists for arts events, activities, and projects in eligible regions. Funding is intended to enhance the cultural services and programs provided by local organizations and artists. Projects must take place in the City of Mount Vernon and be focused on the residents of Mount Vernon.

The Mount Vernon Arts Initiative is designed to help individual artists based in Westchester County and Mount Vernon-based nonprofit cultural organizations enhance the services they provide to Mount Vernon residents.

Organizations may apply for up to two open to the public arts/cultural activities that will take place in Mount Vernon.

Individual Artists may apply for one grant for the creation of a new Mount Vernon-based work of art or a community-engagement project that will take place in Mount Vernon.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, organizations must:
- Demonstrate 501(c)(3) federal tax exempt status as a private, not for profit organization incorporated in New York State.
- Be headquartered in the City of Mount Vernon.
- Have a mission statement that clearly delineates the arts or local history/culture as primary, both in focus and in actual operations.
- If a past grant recipient, your organization must be in good standing regarding submission of required submission of required reports
- The organization must operate in a way that does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, disability or sexual orientation.

To be eligible, artists must:
- Live in Westchester County, or own/rent space in Westchester County at the time of the application and for the duration of the planned project
- If a past grant recipient, must be in good standing regarding submission of required reports

Estimated Size of Grant
- Organizations may request between $1,000 – $10,000. If you are applying for more than one grant, total request cannot exceed $10,000.
- Artists may request between $1,000 – $2,500.

Term of Contract
Projects must take place between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024.
