Grants of up to $7,500 to New York nonprofit organizations and public schools in eligible locations to mitigate the adverse impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and to support racial justice. Priority will be given to innovative proposals such as urban farming, food pantries, fresh food distribution, remote or school-based arts programs, racial justice, and community police relations. Applicants should propose a project that addresses the stated need of the population, as well as describes the gap in resources or services that will be filled by grant funding. Proposals must benefit the residents of Manhattan.
Each award is contracted through one of three City agencies selected by the applicant: Department of Correction (DOC), Department of Education (DOE), and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). Proposals must relate to the selected agency’s overall mission and goals.
“Community awards enhance the work of local nonprofits and schools every year. They make unique events and programs possible that support our students, enrich our seniors’ lives, and improve our neighborhoods.” – Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer
