Grants of up to $5,000 to Skokie, Illinois nonprofits, schools, and government agencies that work together with at least one other agency to benefit local residents. Funding will be provided for proposals that address areas such as, but not limited to: arts and culture, basic human needs, community development, early childhood, youth and adult education, environment, family support/counseling, health, housing, seniors, workforce development, or youth development.
Funding will be provided for program support for new initiatives, pilot projects, or continuing improvements to projects that have shown long-term, positive impact.
The Foundation source seeks to invest in organizations and projects that are poised to make a difference in Skokie and strengthen the community beyond the grant period.

Proposals may request up to $5,000.
Grants are anticipated to be made for one year for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2018.
- Each proposal must be submitted by at least two organizations working together to benefit Skokie residents.
- One of the co-applicants must be a 501(c)(3) organization, a school, or a government entity or must have a fiscal sponsor that qualifies as a tax-exempt organization under Sec. 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- All proposals must address issues, concerns, and/or opportunities for Skokie and its residents.
- Preference will be given to on-going projects rather than one-day, stand-alone events.
- Preference will be given to projects that are sustainable.
- Previous applicants and grantees may apply.
- The Foundation will not provide grants for general operating support; endowments; fund-raising
events or sponsorship of events; appeals for religious purposes (though faith-based organizations may apply for projects benefitting the general community); or to individuals.
Optional meeting regarding the application:
In the evening of Monday, July 24, 2017 all current grantees will meet to report on their progress six months into the 2017 grant cycle. Immediately following, Scott Holtz and Foundation board members will be available to discuss the 2018 application process and answer questions.
All are welcome to attend the presentations and discussion.
The exact time and location of the July 24th event will be published on the Foundation website in the near future. Unfunded applications will not be made public. Program plans of accepted applications will be made public through press releases and the like. Total operating budget of the applicant organizations whether funded or not, will not be made public.

Deadline: Submit the proposal on Thursday, September 7, 2017, by midnight.
Note: Proposals will only be considered by the Foundation in the event that the electronic submission is received on or before the deadline.
The contact person for each proposal will be notified of the grant award decisions by early November 2017.
