Award to a Connecticut or New York teacher in the local region who has made distinguished contributions to their school and community through teaching about the Holocaust and other violations of human rights. Eligible teachers work in Westchester and Putnam Counties in New York, and Fairfield County in Connecticut.

The purpose of this annual award is to honor teachers who exemplify the eradication of bigotry and hatred through education.

A Letter of Nomination, specifying the work and performance that qualify the nominee for this award, and should state clearly why the candidate merits this particular honor, along with a completed application form (attached below).

Nominations due on or before January 31.

Nominations for the award are reviewed by the Educators Planning Committee of the HHREC.

The winner is announced and presented the award at the HHREC Yom Hashoah Commemoration event held each year in April and will receive a certificate and a monetary prize.

Winners' names will be noted on a plaque in the HHREC offices.
